Henry Joseph He was buried at Southern Cemetery in Chorlton-Cum-Hardy, Manchester, Lancashire, on 31st January 1945. [54, 61]
Both of Henry's parents died when he was 19/20. He and his brother Joseph Oliver age 17/18 therefore took the responsibility of the household and raising their brother William aged about 12 and sister Julia aged about 9. It appears that their brother Alfred John Lovell went to live with his uncle William. Henry's brother John Lovell being a small child and sister Catherine Dora Lovell being a baby were both sent to an orphanage.
John Lovell and his Sister Catherine Dora were sent to an orphanage and later sent from the orphanage to Canada as part of the "Home Children" charity scheme of indentured cheap child farm and domestic labour in the British colonies. Although the "Home Children" scheme was well intentioned, and many were treated well, it became scandal ridden with large scale slave mentality abuse. At the age of 18 indentured children were free to make their own way in life. Jill Shaver nee Callaghan, Charles Birch
John became a butcher and eventually owned a string of butcher shops in Toronto and became quite wealthy. He often sent presents to his brothers and sisters in England. Later he visited England and gave donations to the orphanage he was brought up in. Jill Shaver nee Callaghan
Catherine Dora (1878-1953) married George Reid (Abt.1872-1915) and after Gorge's death married Edward Lamb (1885-1959). Catherine had three children. Catherine died in Pennant, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Australia in 2009 gave a government apology for being involved in the "Home Children" scheme and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown gave an apology on behalf of the British Government. As at 2018 other countries including Canada have refused to offer any apologies. Wikipedia
Henry was born in Bermondsey London and he lived with his parents until they all moved to Birmingham in 1881. He was a bricklayer as was his father and grandfather before him. He came to Birmingham and met my great grandmother. They had 5 Children, and he worked on Birmingham Town Hall. He then moved to Manchester where he became a stonemason and lived the rest of his life there. He used to send a sovereign home to my great grandmother every week in a match box but he never wished to return to Birmingham. He died in his shed on his allotments around the 1950's according to one of his granddaughters.
This story taken from the Ancestry - Jackson Family Tree. I also recall hearing the same story from my Grandmother Ivy Blanch Lovell. It appears that the Jackson family were unaware of Kate Lovell - there were 6 children. Charles Birch
Granddad’s wife Elizabeth Busst was a nice person, but intellectually inferior to her husband, and this was the cause of their separation. Jill Shaver nee Callaghan.
Elizabeth was claiming to be a widow from the 1901 census, although Henry was living in Manchester.

Alice's husband Arthur Waight died in prison, leaving Alice a widow. They had 4 children: Ronald, Lewis, Arthur (Artie) and Violet.
Alice made a good job of raising the children alone. Cousin Lewis was in the RAF in WWII and whilst flying over Canada the plane hit an ice cloud and crash landed. He was badly burned and had extensive plastic surgery. I believe Cousin Artie became a lecturer at Oxford; when young Artie and your mother were inseparable. Cousin Ron joined the diplomatic service and at one time was an aide to the Kuwait royal family, when Kuwait was a British protectorate. Cousin Violet married and became a housewife. Jill Shaver nee Callaghan.
I remember meeting Lewis and his wife when I was a young teenager, he was a pleasant mild-mannered man. His face was disfigured and he had lost the little fingers on his hands. I believe he was working at Heathrow Airport. Charles Birch

My mother Ivy Blanch Lovell and her sister my Aunt Violet Lovell lived together and raised Alf. Aunt Nell raised Mabel and a family friend raised George. I don't know what happened to Ernest but he would already have been at work for a couple of years by the time his mother died. Jill Shaver nee Callaghan
Mabel Lovell (1912-2015) married John Aquila Jackson (1910-1988).
They had two children: Sheila (1936-) and Wendy (1945-2011)
In the late 50's as a child staying with my grandparents in Ford Street, Birmingham, I used to visit my cousin Wendy who was 4 years older than me. She used to have a large tortoise that we played with. Her father had an aquarium with seahorses that fascinated me. The family moved to a nice semi-detached house in the Birmingham suburbs which I visited as a young teenager - that was the last time I saw any of them.
Wendy and her husband Royston Turbill (1943-2018) did not have children of their own and adopted two boys.
I was told that in her later life Wendy became keen in Archery, winning a gold medal at the National Archery Championships.
