Elizabeth (Betty) Howarth was born in 1822 in Waddington, Yorkshire. [38, 39, 104]
She was the daughter of John Howarth and Esther Geldart.
There is no record of Elizabeth's mother Esther Geldart's birth or baptism that I can find nor her age at death. Therefore, Esther's birth date is uncertain.
There are clear records of Esther's marriage to John Howarth and of the birth of their children Alice, Charles and Ann.
Esther disappears from records after the birth of Ann and does not reappear until her death record in 1848
Therefore, with regard to the link between Elizabeth (Betty) Howarth and her parents John and Esther Howarth, the link is tenuous because there are no records of Elizabeth (Betty's) birth or baptism. Nor does Elizabeth show on John Howarth's 1841 Census. There is an Elizabeth Howarth working as a servant in Bury who would be the correct age at the 1841 Census, based on Elizabeth's later census records.
There is no reason to doubt the link, it simply cannot be proved from any records that I can find. Charles Birch
Elizabeth (Betty) died in Clitheroe, Lancashire, between October and December 1881. [47]
